![]() I just need time to write, so I'm gonna edit this post. ![]() I am from Serbia and I know the Serbian history very well. This is obviously a rather crude understanding, anyone have a better overview that they can share with us? they should have very strong access to all sorts of mercenary type units (espeically knights and light horse archers) in terms of Infantry Bashtinik or Voynici seem to be the common term, though I think there's a strong similarity between them and the Voi militias of the Rus to be honest, though somewhat different in their origin of organization. So in Total war terms, I think Serbian troops in general terms, in the sense of unique units probably should be the Vlastelas, early on being lancer / archers while later on being more western knights like (maybe just share Pronoiarii ? ) and at the very end obviously Hussars. In terms of Serbian feudalism, the most basic fief holders were called, bashtinik, though these were usually just somewhat well off free land owners, though technically noble, were rather common and essentially just free men, the true nobles were Vlastelas or Vlastelini, who could afford more serious equipments, Bashtinik usually just fought as light infantries (javelin / spear / axe / bows all seems to be fairly common later on crossbows too) and occasionally light cavalries, On a general level, the Serbians nobles (Vlastelas) fought in a more eastern style in the earlier half of their existence (lance and bows), but graudally switched to a more western style by the later half of the Medieval era. Serbs utilized a lot of mercenaries, heavy cavalries from the west and light onces from the east both are very common in a medieval Serbian army. the French, usually a higher portion of the population would participate directly in battle, like most other factions of this era in the region (Bulgarian, Vlach etc), they had very good light infantries relative to their neighbors, and a good mix of light and heavy cavalry, as time went on the heavy cavalry element became more western like, but they also incorperated to some degree horse archer tactics with influence from the Bulgarians / Hungarians / Cumans. (potentially useful for other sub mod if they want to do a Serbian faction, or the main mod for that matter)įrom what I understand, Medieval Serbian armies were feudal in nature, though their feudal system is somewhat closer to that of the Byzantiums than say. I have some ideas that i'll throw out, but I'm no expert on this issue. ![]() Hi, my HURB submod is on it's way to introduce the Grand Principality of Serbia into SS, I'd like to have a thread here that discuss what the roster should be like for the Serbs during medieval times. ![]()
